12 organized criminal groups took part in the January riots in Kazakhstan, the most active of which were the Wild Arman, Kazakhstani and Aishuak Zhantugel groups, Yeldos, Deputy Head of the Criminal Prosecution Service of the Prosecutor General’s Office, said at a briefing at the Central Communications Service on Monday. “Special prosecutors found that 12 organized criminal groups were involved in the riots. Among them, the most active groups were Dzhumageldiev (“Wild Arman”), “Kazakhstan” and “Aishuak Zhantugel”. 23 members of the organized criminal group were arrested, including four “criminal authorities”. All necessary measures are being taken to identify and bring to justice the organizers and participants in these crimes,” Kilymzhanov said.
He noted that today 547 people have been recognized as suspects of organizing and participating in mass riots, of which 269 are under arrest. In particular, law enforcement agencies identified a citizen who, on January 5, in a group of people, seized the building of Kazaeronavigatsia and turned off the lighting of the runway of Almaty airport.
