In Yerevan Lake, work has started to purify the water and the surrounding area in order to create a comfortable recreation area. Mayor of the city Hrachya Sargsyan got acquainted with the ongoing work, according to the Facebook page of the city administration. 

60.43 million drams will be allocated from the budget of the capital in 2022 for cleaning up the territory, which will be used to install the grid, collect and transport garbage and waste with a volume of about 12.5 thousand cubic meters. 

The mayor was informed that the lake is polluted mainly by household and construction waste, which accumulates at the bottom due to the unscrupulous citizens. 

In parallel with the clean-up work on Lake Yerevan, the possibility of creating a recreation area is being discussed.
