On September 3, the VII meeting of the Interstate Ecological Council of the CIS member states was held online.
The participants elected a new chairman of the Council, the Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan Magzum Mirzagaliyev became him, inbusiness.kz reports.
The meeting was attended by delegations of the member states of the CIS Interstate Ecological Council – the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Moldova, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as representatives of the Secretariat of the Council of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member States, the Executive Committee of the CIS Electric Power Council, Executive Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
During the meeting, the participating countries discussed the state and prospects for the development of cooperation in the field of environmental protection. They also exchanged experience on the gradual transition from the use of polymer packaging to the use of environmentally friendly packaging, the Greenhouse Gas Emissions Trading System, the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in the field of environmental protection in the CIS, as well as in the development of fish farming (aquaculture).
