The decision of the Georgian authorities to refuse from the EU assistance in the amount of 75 million euros raises questions about the future of the country. This was stated by a member of the Foreign Relations Committee of the US Senate, Republican Senator Jim Risch in an interview with the Georgian service of the Voice of America.
“The government’s decision to refuse EU assistance and the conditions set by the EU raises questions about the future of Georgia and the rule of law, which is essential to protect every citizen,” Riesch said.
Members of the upper house of the US legislature, which has been working on Georgia for a long time, also called on all parties to implement the April 19 political agreement.
“Both sides must abide by the April 19 agreement and work to create a more peaceful and cooperative political environment in Georgia, including the holding of transparent and fair elections on October 2,” he stressed.
