Banking cash flow in Uzbekistan amounted to 317.4 trillion soums ($29.8 billion) in January-August 2021, showing a 48.8 percent increase compared to the same period of 2020, the country’s central bank said.
The volume of cash receipts to the cash departments of banks amounted to 157.6 trillion soums, and cash consumption – 159.8 trillion soums, it said.
Based on the volume of the demand for cash and the receipt of cash by banks, additional cash money was issued into circulation and, in some periods, there was a return of surplus cash.
As a result, the share of cash in the total money supply amounted to 23 percent, decreasing by 5 percentage points compared to the same period of last year as of September 1, 2021, the bank said.
