About 250 people from different countries and organizations will observe the upcoming State Duma elections in Russia. This will provide the international community with a “good scale” view of voting. The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova told about this on the air of the Russia 24 TV channel.
“Everything is fine with us with international observation, about 250 observers will work, these are about 50 countries and eight international organizations”, -she said.
Elections to the State Duma and a series of regional elections will be held in Russia from 17 to 19 September. In the federal vote, 14 parties are competing for a seat in parliament, as well as candidates in single-mandate constituencies.
Earlier in the OSCE stated that representatives of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) will not attend the elections in Russia as observers. This decision in the organization was explained by the restrictions associated with the coronavirus pandemic.
