“The last months have passed under the sign of an accelerated transformation of the military-political situation in Afghanistan. There is a threat of its destabilization. The mandate of the Collective Security Treaty Organization and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization includes issues of prevention and response to such threats. This determines the importance of coordinating actions between our two authoritative regional structures. The Afghan interim government was faced with a complex of extremely difficult tasks. In addition to strategic goals, building a new state structure and achieving national unity, urgent issues of survival will have to be addressed,” said during a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the SCO member states in Dushanbe.
