The Nord Stream 2 AG company has begun filling the first string of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline with gas, the construction of which was completed in September, follows from the company’s message.
“The string will be gradually filled with gas in order to achieve the volume and pressure required for further technical testing,” the message says. The pipeline operator also announced that commissioning works were carried out on the line to control the integrity of the gas pipeline, including an in-line inspection using special diagnostic devices, as well as external visual and instrumental checks.
Commissioning work on the second line continues, the company noted. It also said that the pipeline “has been independently certified in accordance with applicable technical and industry standards to ensure its reliable and safe operation.”
On Monday, the Danish Energy Agency announced that Nord Stream 2 AG had fulfilled all the conditions for putting the gas pipeline into operation. The agency granted a construction permit for Nord Stream 2 on October 30, 2019 and an operating permit on October 1, 2020.
