Specialists of the National Directorate for the Protection, Study and Restoration of Historical and Cultural Monuments of Turkmenistan have begun the third stage of restoration work on the medieval monument – the Dayakhatyn caravanserai, “Turkmenistan: Golden Age” reports.
The ruins of the caravanserai are located on the territory of the Lebap velayat, 170 km north-west of Turkmenabat.
The inn was located on the route of the Great Silk Road from Amul to Khorezm, and one can only imagine what rich caravans, loaded with valuable goods, passed through it. Not only merchants stayed here, but also rulers, officials and just travelers from all over the region.
Premises intended for noble persons differed from others in area and design.
