Eleven remote villages of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO) with a total population of more than 1,652 people received access to electricity for the first time in history. This was made possible with the support of the government of the republic through the Tajikistan Rural Electrification Project (TREP), funded by the World Bank.
Currently, the villages of Nisur, Khidzhez, Ravivd, Barchadev and Yapshorv in the Bartang valley of the Rushan region, Zaych in the Yazgulom valley of the Vanj region, Rosnver and Zurzimor Dasht in the Shugnan region, Shirzhin and Khodzhashim region in the Ishkahshim region Roshtkala region.
“The government of Tajikistan is committed to providing access to reliable electricity in every locality in the country, regardless of its size and location,” said Daler Juma, Minister of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan.
