On October 8, judge of the Grave Crimes Court Siyavush Hajiyev issued a 13-year sentence to a member of the Popular Front Party, Niyameddin Akhmedov. He was found guilty of “financing terrorism.”
In his last word, Akhmedov denied all accusations, calling them unfounded. The relatives and friends of the defendant were not allowed into the hall, as were the PFPA members.
PFPA leader Ali Karimli, who was present in front of the courthouse, told reporters that he condemned the massacre of an innocent party member. He expressed confidence that Akhmedov would be released and not spend 13 years behind bars. “With such repressions, the authorities want to divert the attention of society from their own crimes. The latest evidence of this was the data on the property of the ruling family in the amount of $ 700 million, illegally purchased by them abroad,” Karimli said.
