The Civil Union “For Reforms and Results” applied to the General Prosecutor’s Office with a request to check the legality of the use of cameras with face recognition. According to the analysis of the organization, this may violate a number of legislative norms, including the basic law.
Thus, Article 63 of the Constitution guarantees everyone the protection of personal data, according to the same article, access to personal data of citizens and their receipt is carried out only in cases provided for by law. In accordance with Article 29 of the Constitution, “the collection, storage, use and dissemination of confidential information, information about a person’s private life without his consent, except in cases established by law, is not allowed.”
“It is obvious that total and targeted video surveillance of citizens, even in public places, is a form of interference in their private life,” the authors of the appeal emphasize.
