Shavkat Mirziyoyev said that Uzbekistan continues negotiations with the Afghan government on the construction of the Termez-Mazar-i-Sharif-Kabul-Peshawar railway. According to him, the Taliban are also interested in the implementation of this project, but are faced with a lack of funding, since most countries do not recognise the Taliban rule.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, being in Karshi as part of his election tour in the regions, talked to journalists, Kun.uz reports. During the conversation, he spoke about the fate of the Termez-Mazar-i-Sharif-Kabul-Peshawar railway, taking into account the situation in Afghanistan.
“This is a very serious question. Recently, our Foreign Minister held meetings in Afghanistan, now the other side will arrive in Termez, and we will continue negotiations. Regardless of which government comes to Afghanistan, if it thinks about the interests of the people, the economy, it will be convinced of the urgent need for this project,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
