Azerbaijan’s cargo turnover rose by 21 percent year-on-year to 4.298 million tonnes in the first nine months of this year, Baku International Sea Trade Port reported.
The share of transit cargo was 93 percent of total cargo, it said.
The dry cargo volume rose by 69 percent year-on-year to 856,000 tonnes, the largest increase in January-September of 2021. The main dry cargo transported through the port were fertilisers from Turkmenistan. The number of containers transported through the port increased to 30,774 TEU.
Another significant increase was recorded in the volume of oil and oil products transported at the Dubandi oil terminal. The volume of oil and oil products transported in the first nine months of 2021 increased by almost 3 times and exceeded 1 million tonnes.
A partial decrease was recorded in the number of heavy vehicles transported through the port in January-September.
