Uzbekistan’s current account deficit rises to $5.3 billion in January-September
Uzbekistan’s current account deficit rose to $5.3 billion in the first nine months of 2021, the central bank said.
In the first quarter, the current account deficit was $2.1 billion.
“At the same time, the negative balance ($10.1 billion) of the trade balance (goods and services) was partially offset by the positive balance ($4.8 billion) of primary income and secondary income,” the bank said.
Earlier this month the State Statistics Committee said that the country’s foreign trade turnover rose to $28.2 billion in January-September. Exports amounted to $10.3 billion, imports rose to $17.9 billion. The trade deficit amounted to $7.6 billion.
