The 26th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change continues in the Scottish city of Glasgow.

For the first time in 26 years, all five Central Asian countries – Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan – presented their own pavilion as a platform for discussions and presentation of their strategies for achieving carbon neutrality.

The director of the regional environmental center, Zafar Makhmudov, told reporters that an appeal to organize the pavilion was received in 2019 following the results of COP-25 in Madrid.

“The Central Asian region has great prospects and untapped potential that needs to be shown. Now such an opportunity has appeared. The pavilion also provides a platform for high-level applications. In addition, it is an opportunity to increase the recognition of the region in the world. Previously, each state participated in such discussions individually or in groups. Today there is a chance to demonstrate this unity of views and positions, ”he said.
