Two new vaccines against coronavirus infection are undergoing preclinical trials in Russia, Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko said at a meeting on the development of genetic technologies led by President Vladimir Putin. They were created on different platforms, but they work on a similar principle, reports TASS.
“We have developed several such breakthrough things in parallel. First of all, the Sputnik V vaccine using genetic technologies is already being used today. We have also developed two more vaccines that are undergoing preclinical trials today” – said Murashko.
According to the head of the Ministry of Health, despite the fact that vaccines have been created on various platforms, their principle of action is similar.
Earlier it became known that the nasal vaccine against the Russian-made coronavirus will have fewer side effects than the injection. According to epidemiologist Elena Burtseva, the drug will create local immunity in the nose, through which the virus often penetrates.
