The President of Uzbekistan took part in the 15th summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), held in Ashgabat, where the temporary chairmanship was transferred to our country from 2022, the president’s website reports.
The summit discussed issues of expanding partnerships in the areas of trade, transport and communication integration, industrial cooperation, as well as “green” energy and tourism.
Speaking at the summit, Shavkat Mirziyoyev put forward a number of initiatives and outlined the position of our country on the issues discussed.
He noted the success of Turkmenistan’s chairmanship and the importance of the recently adopted UN resolution on cooperation with the ECO. Regarding the forthcoming transition of the chairmanship to Uzbekistan, he said that he was determined to effectively implement this opportunity, and called the ECO “a large regional structure with enormous economic potential.”
