Deputies of the Senate of the Parliament adopted the draft law “On amnesty in connection with the 30th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s independence,” the correspondent of the Kapital.kz business information centre reports.
According to the Minister of Internal Affairs Yerlan Turgumbayev, the draft law was developed on behalf of the head of state. The document is aimed at releasing punishment for crimes of small and medium gravity, as well as reducing the unserved term of punishment for grave and especially grave crimes. At the same time, special attention is paid to the socially vulnerable category of citizens: veterans, minors, women and elderly men, disabled people of the first and second groups, as well as other persons who do not pose a serious threat to the security of Kazakhstani’s and the state.
