Uzbekistan is planning to seriously toughen the punishment for corruption. For example, you can get 20 years in prison for a bribe, the Podrobno.uz correspondent reports.
Director of the Anti-Corruption Agency Akmal Burkhanov said that a draft law on increasing criminal liability for corruption crimes has been submitted to the lower house of parliament.
The document provides a clear definition of the concept of “corruption crimes”, in addition, it lists 15 types of specific offences that fall under the concept of “corruption”.
Currently, embezzlement through embezzlement or embezzlement, as well as fraud through abuse of office or the use of official position is punishable by a prison term of up to 5 years. Under the new law, criminals will receive up to 10 years.
