Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev signed the law “On amnesty in connection with the 30th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan”, Akorda reports.
The law is aimed at exempting from serving punishment for crimes of small and medium gravity, as well as reducing the unserved term of punishment for grave and especially grave crimes. Particular attention is paid to the socially vulnerable category of citizens – veterans, minors, elderly citizens, disabled people of I-II groups and other persons who do not pose a serious threat to the safety of citizens and the state.
A separate article of the law specifies the list of persons who have committed crimes to which the amnesty will not apply.
