On December 9, the press service of the Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek reported that deputies Asylbek Jeenbekov and Torobay Zulpukarov, suspected of corruption in the Kumtor case, had been released from custody.
It is noted that judge Nurdin Ibraimov decided to release them from custody in the courtroom. Measures of restraint in the form of imprisonment against politicians were canceled.
Earlier, on November 25, the same court ruled to keep Jeenbekov and Zulpukarov in custody in the Kumtor case until January 2022. The politicians were detained by GKNB officers in June 2021. Then the special service reported that they were suspected under the article “Corruption”.
Later, Prosecutor General Kurmankul Zulushev sent to parliament a proposal to give consent to bring the deputies to criminal responsibility Jeenbekov and Zulpukarov. However, December 8 members of parliament refused to give it.
