Shavkat Mirziyoyev today visited one of the world’s largest copper deposits “Yoshlik-1” near Almalyk. A mega-project worth $ 5 billion is being implemented here, the Podrobno.uz correspondent reports.
The field occupies a fairly large area – 11 thousand hectares, and is considered one of the largest in terms of proven reserves. It contains 13 types of valuable and rare metals, including gold, copper, silver, molybdenum and selenium. For their processing, the third copper-processing plant is being built at the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine.
Within the framework of the project, it is planned to develop a deposit ($ 1.44 billion) with a capacity of 65 million tons of ore per year, the construction of a copper concentrating plant-3 ($ 2 billion) with an annual processing capacity of 60 million ore, factory infrastructure ($ 1 billion), an energy system with a capacity of 650 megawatts (170 million dollars).
