Five activists of the Democratic Party were detained by the police in Almaty, one of them was beaten-VLAST.KZ

On Friday, Almaty police detained at least five activists from the unregistered Democratic Party of Kazakhstan. Among the detainees were Abzal Dostyarov, Aruzhan Duysebaeva, Yrysbek Toktasyn, Meirkhan Zholayev and Nurbol Bayterekov. After the arrest, one of the activists, Yrysbek Toktasyn, was beaten. The leader of the movement, Zhanbolat Mamay, announced this live on Facebook.
According to Mamay, one of the activists of Yrysbek Toktasyn was detained by the police using force. He was beaten in the police department: “Yrysbek Toktasyn was beaten. Now he is in the Turksib District Department of Internal Affairs and needs medical assistance. His life is in danger.”
In the attached screenshot, Toktasyn wrote a message via Whatsapp messenger: “I need an ambulance. My stomach and ribs hurt. I was beaten. Turksib District Department of Internal Affairs.”
Several activists of the Democratic Party, together with Zhanbolat Mamai, gathered at the police department demanding the release of the detained comrades-in-arms.
