Uzbekistan will not privatize airports, but some of their elements are planned to be developed through private investment, the Podrobno.uz correspondent reports.
“The airports of Uzbekistan, due to their geographical location between Southeast Asia and Europe, have a powerful export potential and are a source of hard currency for the republic. Such a cow, as they say, is needed by oneself,” said Rano Juraeva, chairman of the board of Uzbekistan Airports.
However, according to her, the Uzbek side is open to attracting private investment in various elements of the airports. The instrument for this is public-private partnership.
“For example, we are now implementing a project in Samarkand with the Marokanda company. In exchange for the construction of a new airport terminal, they are taking over the function of serving passengers. The same project is planned to be implemented in Bukhara,” she stressed.
