A commission that will deal with the delimitation and subsequent demarcation of the state border between Armenia and Azerbaijan may be established in the near future, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko said today, according to Russian news agency RIA Novosti.
Rudenko recalled that on November 26 in Sochi, the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia agreed to create a bilateral commission on the delimitation of their state border with Russia’s advisory assistance.
“We assume that this (the establishment of the commission) will happen soon. We do not see any insurmountable obstacles to the implementation of this agreement reached at the highest level,” he said.
During the November 26 meeting in the Russian city of Sochi, organized by Russia’s President Vladimir Putin, the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan said they were ready to engage in the process of delimitating and demarcating their Soviet-era border and pursue unblocking of transport infrastructure in the region.
