Minister of high-tech industry of Armenia Vahagn Khachatryan, in a conversation with journalists on Monday, touched upon the plans of the ruling party to nominate him as a candidate for the presidency of the republic.
As Haykakan Zhamanak newspaper reported the day before, the ruling Civil Contract party intends to nominate the current minister of high-tech industry, non-partisan Vahagn Khachaturian, as a candidate for the presidency of Armenia.
“Since at the moment there is no decision of the speaker of the National Assembly to terminate the powers of the incumbent president, these conversations should take place tomorrow. It will be rude to make any comments today. A person still has the opportunity to withdraw his application,” Khachaturian said.
He noted that theoretically his candidacy should have been discussed taking into account existing requirements, including his age, Armenian citizenship, and experience.
