Afghan electricity company Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) currently owes $33 million for electricity, head of Barki Tojik OJSC Mahmadumar Asozoda said last Monday at a press conference in Dushanbe.
According to him, the leadership of the Afghan company promises to settle accounts with Tajikistan in February.
Asoev noted that the company paid $2 million in January, promising to pay the same amount during this week.
The head of “Barki Tojik” connects the main problem with the payment of the resulting debt with the difficult situation in the banking system of Afghanistan.
He stressed that at the moment Afghan banks can provide DABS with only $2 million a week to pay for Tajik electricity.
