The Ministry of Health has proposed making health insurance compulsory for all citizens of Kyrgyzstan over 16 years of age. The department proposes to make such amendments to the law “On health insurance”.
The draft law was submitted for public discussion on February 3. The Ministry of Health believes that the amendments to the law will increase the flow of money to the budget of the Compulsory Medical Insurance Fund (FOMS). Then this money will go to the program of state guarantees.
According to the Ministry of Health, greater medical insurance coverage will provide citizens with medicines on preferential terms.
According to the current law, compulsory medical insurance is issued only by people working under an employment contract.
