Of the 75 people who received the status of “media-foreign agent” in Russia, at least 32 people have gone abroad or are preparing to leave. This was reported by the BBC Russian Service, adding that 14 more people left Russia before being included in the list due to pressure from the authorities.
“The list included 75 citizens of Russia. At least 32 people from this list have gone abroad or are “sitting on suitcases”: they bought tickets or apply for visas. Thus, 43% of all “foreign agents” chose the path of emigration. Or, as some of them prefer to say, “exiles”” –informs edition.
The Ministry of Justice first included individuals in the list of “media-foreign agents” on December 28, 2020. The last person at the moment was entered into the register on December 30, 2021.
It is noted that now there are 41 journalists in the register (of which no more than 21 remain in Russia) and 34 representatives of other professions: 20 coordinators of the Voice movement (an organization acting as a foreign agent) – at least three, 14 lawyers, human rights activists went abroad and artists (not in Russia now nine people).
