The Brest region increased the export of its goods to Russia in 2021 by 17% compared to 2020. Such information was announced today during a meeting between Chairman of the Brest Regional Executive Committee Yury Shuleiko and Consul General of Russia in Brest Oleg Murashev, BelTA has learned.
“We have a good balance. Export figures have increased over the year. We mainly supply food products, the quality is excellent. Some of our enterprises have already become world brands,” said Yuriy Shuleiko. At the end of 2021, the foreign trade turnover between the Brest region and Russia amounted to almost $2.5 billion. Over the year, it grew by almost 20%. Exports increased by 17% and approached $2 billion. The balance was positive.
Brest region maintains foreign trade cooperation with 77 regions of Russia. The largest trade turnover has been established with Moscow, St. Petersburg, Moscow, Bryansk, Rostov, Sverdlovsk, Leningrad and Kaluga regions, Krasnodar Territory. Mostly Brest residents supply dairy and meat products, fish, vegetables and fruits, gas stoves, building materials.
The governor noted that in addition to the agro-industrial complex, furniture, sewing, machine-building enterprises, manufacturers of building materials are widely represented in the Brest region. Yuri Shuleiko expressed confidence in the continuation of mutually beneficial cooperation with Russian partners.
“I look with optimism at the development of our interregional ties. Moreover, the potential of Belarus and its enterprises is quite high. Products, including those from Brest, are in demand in many regions of Russia. Cooperation will continue. For my part, I will make every effort to ensure that these contacts are I would like to note that preparations have already begun for the Forum of the Regions of Belarus and Russia, which is scheduled to be held in June this year in Grodno,” the Consul General of Russia in Brest said.
