A month after his release from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz jazzman Vikram Ruzakhunov told how he was detained and tortured in Almaty.
On February 10, he posted on his Instagram.
According to Ruzakhunov, after his arrest, “no one from the law enforcement agencies of Kazakhstan” checked his identity.
“Although during interrogations I constantly repeated, and during torture I shouted that I was a famous musician, I asked just to enter my name in a search engine. In response, only curses and mockery,” the musician wrote.
He stressed that if his interview with the Kazakh state television channel Khabar had not been published, no one would have known about the detention. In that interview, Ruzakhunov slandered himself and said that he allegedly participated in the protests in Almaty for $200, while “employers” allegedly paid for his airfare from Bishkek.
