On Monday, February 21, the Council of the European Union decided to allocate additional financial support resources to Ukraine by launching a new emergency macro-financial assistance program worth 1.2 billion euros.
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine .
“The EU’s decision on financial support for Ukraine was made in an unprecedentedly short time. We are extremely grateful to our European partners for their trust and significant contribution to ensuring Ukraine’s macro-financial stability,” said Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko.
It is noted that the first tranche is unconditional and will be provided after the entry into force of the Memorandum of Understanding and the Loan Agreement on the possibility of providing Ukraine with soft loans.
The second tranche will be driven by Ukraine’s progress in implementing short-term measures agreed by the parties to implement structural reforms in priority areas: strengthening economic stability and stability, the rule of law and energy.
