The legal clinic “Adilet” has prepared an extensive analysis of the draft resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers on appealing against false information on the Internet. The organisation believes that the document “with a high degree of probability will lead to a restriction of the constitutional rights of citizens to freedom of speech and expression.”
On February 14, the Ministry of Culture published a draft resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers on appealing false information on the Internet. This document should complement the work of the law “On Protection against False Information”.
In the draft, the agency proposes to block websites and pages of websites through Internet providers. The justification note says that if a person considers a publication about him to be false, he must apply to the service under the Ministry of Digital Development.
You can ask a government agency to block a website for up to two months. If the owner of the site deletes the information voluntarily, then access to it will be restored.
