On March 10, an incident with the use of weapons occurred on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border. This was reported in the Border Service of Kyrgyzstan.
The department said that at about 11 a.m., Tajik border guards, while serving in an undescribed area in the Teskei area of the Batken region, changed the previously used route, went to a new guard line and demanded that the Kyrgyz border guards leave this area.
“Reinforcements have arrived at the Tajik border guards. They, using numerical superiority, tried to reach a new frontier. However, the Kyrgyz border guards did not allow this. A gunfight began, lasting about 10 minutes. There are no wounded or injured from the Kyrgyz side,” the Kyrgyz Border Service reported.
The department added that the border representatives of the two countries have already discussed the incident. They decided to withdraw border detachments from the scene of the incident and not to draw additional forces.
