This morning, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev heard information from Governor of the North Kazakhstan Region Kumar Aksakalov on the progress of work to eliminate the consequences of the accident at the Petropavlovsk thermal power plant, which led to a shutdown of heat in residential buildings, Berik Uali, press secretary of the head of state, said.
“According to the akim, a working commission has been created, which included employees of the akimat, the Ministry of Emergency Situations and other competent departments, as well as designers and specialists in this industry. The arrival of the head of the company – the owner of the CHP is expected. The President instructed to provide heat to the residents of the regional center and other settlements as soon as possible,” Uali wrote on Facebook.
The day before, at about 19:00, there was a partial collapse of a pipe at CHPP-2 in Petropavlovsk. According to the Department of Emergency Situations, strong winds (up to 10 m/s) became the cause of the collapse. Before the collapse, 4 boiler units and 5 turbine units were in operation. At 19:30 2 boiler units and 3 turbine units were switched off.
