The official representative of the EU Foreign Service, Peter Stano, called for the restoration of gas supplies to the residents of Artsakh.
“The EU is concerned about the renewed interruptions in the supply of gas to Stepanakert. It is urgent to resume supplies to the affected local population. The EU calls on the regulatory authorities to ensure this, especially given the current severe weather,” Stano tweeted.
Earlier, the associate director of the international human rights organization Human Rights Watch for Europe and Central Asia, Giorgi Gogia, spoke about the threat of a humanitarian crisis in Karabakh and called for urgent steps to be taken to avoid this. “For the second time in two weeks, in frosty weather, residents of Nagorno-Karabakh are left without heating due to the (blocked) gas pipeline passing through the territory controlled by Azerbaijan,” Gogia wrote on his Twitter.
