The contribution of the United States to strengthening Georgia is invaluable, Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani said on Thursday in comments marking the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Zalkaliani underlined the contributions of the US to developing Georgia’s defence capabilities, and economic sustainability in his remarks on the date.
“Over the years, one of the main frameworks of our relationship has been established, namely the Charter of Strategic Partnership between the United States and Georgia, which covers the four main areas of our cooperation: defence and security, the economic dimension, the building of democratic institutions, and people-to-people relations. We have made really tangible progress in all four areas,” the top Georgian diplomat said.
Zalkaliani added Georgia, along with its key strategic partner country, had itself contributed to the fight against global security challenges, pointing out the country today “is the closest and most reliable ally of the United States in the region.”
