The flagship of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation, the Moskva missile cruiser, was hit by the Neptune coastal missile system of the Ukrainian Naval Forces on April 13. Information about this was reported by several sources at once, including the Chairman of the Odessa Regional State Administration. Subsequently, information about the defeat of the ship was officially confirmed in the Russian Federation.
The blow fell on the anniversary – on April 13, 2014, the Antiterrorist operation began in eastern Ukraine.
The missile cruiser “Moskva” belongs to the project of 1164, the code “Atlant”, which provided for the creation of ships in a distant ocean zone, in which it was supposed to hunt US aircraft carriers.
And the entire contour of the ship was created solely to perform this task in the scenario of the Third World War, suicidal for mankind. In particular, long-range anti-ship missiles P-500 “Basalt” became the cruiser’s “main caliber”. These are 12-meter missiles capable of traveling 550 km at a speed of about 3,000 km/h and carrying 350 kt nuclear warheads.
