Uzbekistan says it exported 687 tonnes of gold since 2011
Uzbekistan exported 687 tonnes of gold in the last ten years, the Central Bank said in a report, the first disclosure it’s made of the 10-year export dynamics of its main commodity.
The Central Asian, ex-Soviet republic is opening up its macroeconomic data to bring it in line with international standards as a part of a programme to reform its economy.
Gold export hit a record high of 110 tonnes in 2019, while in 2012 the country sold only 10 tonnes.
The Central Bank said earlier this year that it would continue to sell gold mostly depending on the world prices. It has not sold any gold reserves since the beginning of 2021.
