Capital investment in Azerbaijan’s industrial sector decreased by 5.6 percent year-on-year to 1.558 billion manats ($917 million) in the first quarter of 2021, the State Statistics Committee said.
Around 66 percent of total capital investment in the country’s economy was spent in the industrial sector.
Investments in the production of electricity, gas and its distribution declined by 19.2 percent year-on-year to 53.6 million manats, while transport and warehousing declined 38.6 percent to 194.8 million manats.
The decline of 89.6 percent to 4.5 million manats was in defence and education, which saw investment of 9.4 million manats in January-March, 46.8 percent down from the same period last year.
Capital investment in the sector of information and communications increased by 1.4 percent to 30 million manats.
Last year, capital investments in the industrial sector declined by 4.3 percent year-on-year.
