Belarus is ready to ensure the supply of electricity from BelNPP for export, Total.kz reported, citing BelTA reports.
Belarus is ready to ensure the supply of electricity from the BelNPP for export, Energy Minister Viktor Karankevich told reporters.
“BelNPP is designed primarily to meet internal needs for electricity, however, if necessary, Belarus is ready to ensure the supply of electricity from the station for export,” he said, answering journalists’ questions.
According to Total.kz, the ministry also said that at present, the first power unit of the BelNPP is undergoing comprehensive testing of equipment at the rated power of the reactor plant. This is the final stage of the pilot operation of the unit.
In Belarus, the construction of a nuclear power plant near the town of Ostrovets in the Grodno region under the Russian VVER-1200 design is nearing completion. The station will consist of two 1200 MW power units each. The general contractor for the construction of the station was the ASE group of the Russian state corporation Rosatom.
