Armenia’s Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has again called for creation of a single natural gas market for the countries, which are members of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), Arka reported.

Speaking at a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Council today, Pashinyan said the prices for natural gas transportation for domestic consumption by EEU members should be formalized in the from of an international agreement.

“We attach great importance to the formation of a single natural gas market for the EEU. We consider that gas pricing and transportation tariffs should be set by an international agreement on the basis of transparent and non-discriminatory approaches,” he said.

Two members of EEU- Armenia and Belarus- receive natural gas from Russia, where its price is significantly lower for consumers than in other members of the Russian-led trade bloc.

Pashinyan also called for identifying and removing all the barriers and restrictions in mutual trade. According to him, despite the existing differences and some objective difficulties in creation of a full-fledged single market for goods and services, EEU members continue the search for constructive solutions.

“The consistent implementation of the main guidelines of the macroeconomic policy of the EEU member states for 2021-2022 is a tool for adapting to the requirements and challenges of the time,” he said.
