The French airline Air France has cancelled a flight from Paris to Moscow, which was to land on May 26 at 15:00. The reason was the need to fly around Belarus, News.ru reported, citing Novaya Gazeta reports.
In company explained that the flight had to be cancelled since after the decision was made to fly over the Belarusian territory, the carrier needed a new permit to enter the airspace of Russia from the local authorities.
As the passenger of this flight, Michelle Sindyukova, said, the captain of the aircraft onboard said that he had not received permission to enter Russian airspace. He called this situation very strange.
On May 24, the EU summit banned Belarusian airlines from flying to the European Union. Also, European air carriers are not recommended to fly to Minsk. Many airlines have followed this advice, including Air France.
