The FEZ “Vitebsk” in 2021 plans to build and commission three major engineering and transport infrastructure worth about Br25.5 million, BelTA learned from the FEZ administration.
All objects are included in the state investment program for 2021. They provide for the construction of access railway lines, as well as a step-down substation 110/10 kV with an overhead power transmission line 110 kV in sector No. 1 of the SEZ on the outskirts of the regional center. This will increase the investment attractiveness of the FEZ territory, increase energy security and improve the transport accessibility of the site for the needs of existing enterprises and for the implementation of promising investment projects.
Necessary preparatory measures have been taken today, the Ministry of Finance of Belarus has opened financing and construction has already begun on some objects. For this, contracts were concluded with the UKS of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee for the implementation of engineering services and with general contractors, including the development of financing and construction schedules. In addition, the project documentation for the object “Construction of main water supply networks of the second stage of the development of the Vitebsk FEZ” is being updated in parallel. The object is also included in the state investment program with funding in 2022.
At the same time, the administration of the FEZ “Vitebsk” is studying the possibilities of increasing the infrastructure provision of other territories. In particular, in 2021, the design of the new railway and energy infrastructure facilities began at sites in Vitebsk (sector No. 1) and the village of Farinovo, Polotsk region (sector No. 14). For these purposes, more than Br500 thousand will be allocated from the FEZ Development Fund, and financing of the construction of facilities is planned from the republican budget.
The development of engineering and transport infrastructure will make it possible to activate a new investment cycle in the FEZ “Vitebsk” and will become a driver of economic growth in the whole of the Vitebsk region, they are confident in the administration of the FEZ. So, taking into account the plans for the construction of railway tracks, the founders of VMG WoodArt LLC decided to accelerate the construction of a vertically integrated woodworking complex according to a project designed for three years, with the launch of the first plant for the production of wood chips in 2021. An additional 9 million euros have been allocated for these purposes. Also, the intensity of negotiations with two large companies VidaXL (the Netherlands) and WoodForce (Sweden), which are showing interest in projects in the field of woodworking worth 100 million euros each, with the planned creation of up to 1,000 jobs in total, has increased.
