Acting Armenian Deputy PM Mher Grigoryan told reporters today in Yerevan that the Armenian government is discussing the opening of regional transportation routes within the recently created trilateral (Armenia-Russia-Azerbaijan) commission and that such talks have nothing to do with weakening Armenia’s territorial sovereignty, HETQ reported.
Grigoryan said it is important to define the term “corridor”, noting that what is under discussion are transportation routes and that the issue of Armenia’s “sovereignty” is not at issue.
Grigoryan said that the ongoing border stand-off along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border has interrupted the commission’s work.
When asked to comment on Acting PM Nikol Pashinyan’s proposal that OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair countries or Russian monitors should be sent to monitor the border, Grigoryan said that “everything must be done to resolve the issue peacefully, via diplomacy.”
