The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Uzbekistan agreed to implement a project worth $100 million to develop STEM education in the most populous Central Asian country, Education and Science Ministry said.
STEM education means educating students in four specific disciplines, namely, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
The project is aimed at developing STEM education in schools for grades 7-11. It will maintain and improve the existing standards of curricula and textbooks in STEM subjects, training and retraining of teachers, purchasing the necessary equipment for schools, renovating school buildings, and developing educational technologies. In addition, the project provides for the improvement of the system for assessing the knowledge of students in schools in Uzbekistan.
