In 2019-2020, 345 million manats were invested in the reconstruction of the Azerbaijan thermal power plant in Mingachevir, including 151 million manats last year, according to the financial report of the power plant, TURAN reported.
In June 2020, upon completion of the reconstruction work, 330 and 500-kilovolt open distribution units, 8 power units, and a dispatch control centre were put into operation. The installed capacity of the plant has been increased to 2,400 MW, and the lost capacity of 600 MW has been restored. As a result of the accident that occurred at the station on July 3, 2018, a fire broke out on the current transformer of the substation. Subsequent serial accidents caused serious damage to the country’s energy system.
According to the financial report, the power plant’s revenue from electricity generation (255.5 million manats) decreased by 5%. At the same time, fuel costs for electricity production (167.1 million manats) decreased by 16.5%. During the year, 17.3 million manats (-29.7%) were spent on maintenance and technical services, and 3 million manats (+26.2%) were spent on the purchase of raw materials.
