Starting from 22 July 2021, Rosselkhoznadzor introduces temporary restrictions on the import of tomato and pepper fruits originating from the Tashkent region of the Republic of Uzbekistan into Russia, UZ DAILY reported, citing the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of the Russian Federation.
The suspension of supplies is related to the next detection of Tomato brown fruit virus (ToBRFV) and Pepino mosaic virus in tomatoes imported from the region. The restrictions are introduced on the basis of the VII International Plant Protection Convention and Federal Law No. 206-FZ of July 21, 2014 “On Plant Quarantine”.
Consignments shipped before 22 July are allowed to be imported into the territory of Russia only after passing the quarantine phytosanitary examination. The issue of access of Uzbek fruit and vegetable products to the Russian market will be considered after an investigation by the National Organization for Quarantine and Plant Protection (NPPO) of Uzbekistan on each case of detection, as well as the provision by the Uzbek side of a list of enterprises guaranteeing the absence of quarantine objects for the EAEU member states, including the brown virus tomato fruit wrinkles and Pepino mosaic virus.
