Azerbaijan increased the export of oil products by 6.5 percent year-on-year to 646,011 tonnes in the first half of 2021, the State Customs Committee said.
In nominal terms export of oil products amounted to $283 million as of July 1, 73.7 percent more than a year ago due to the rise in oil prices on the world markets.
Exports of oil products in the first six months of this year accounted for 3.2 percent of total exports from Azerbaijan, the committee said.
In 2020, Azerbaijan exported 1.064 million tonnes of oil products for $295.1 million.
Azerbaijan reduced oil and gas condensate production by 4 percent year-on-year from January to June to 17.177 million tonnes, while natural gas output increased 5.1 percent to 20.355 billion cubic metres (bcm) in the same period.
The volume of marketable oil was 17.145 million tonnes from January to June, 3.7 percent down from the same period last year. The production of commercial gas rose to 14.997 bcm, up 8.8 percent from the first six months of 2020.
In 2020, Azerbaijan produced 34.585 million tonnes of oil and gas condensate, while natural gas output was 36.713 bcm.
Crude is processed at the Baku Oil Refinery, which produces 15 different petroleum products, including gasoline, aviation kerosene, diesel fuel, naphta, petroleum coke, and others. The sole refinery in the oil-rich country meets the nation’s entire demand for petroleum products and exports 45 percent of its petroleum products.
